Killashee Hotel Operations Manager Sinead Lawlor has won Employee of the Year at the 2023 County Kildare Chamber Business Awards

A passion for her work, dedication to exceeding expectations and a commitment to the growth and well-being of her team all contribute to making Sinead Lawlor, Operations Manager at Killashee Hotel, and this year’s winner of the Employee of the Year Award at the 2023 County Kildare Chamber Business Awards’. These prestigious awards took place on November 17th at Killashee Hotel, an event that no doubt Sinead took part in the coordination of.

Sinead started her journey with Killashee in November 2013, stepping into the role of Duty Manager. Her exceptional skills and dedication to her role quickly became evident, leading to a swift promotion to Conference Manager in January 2014. In this new role, Sinead continued to impress with her exemplary management abilities and an innate ability to create unforgettable experiences for the hotel’s guests and clients.  In June 2022, Sinead reached yet another milestone when she was promoted to the role of Operations Manager. One of Sinead’s most remarkable attributes is her exceptional management of numerous international conferences, weddings and events that have taken place at Killashee Hotel.

Sinead who is from Palmerstown in Dublin, graduated from Ballyfermot Senior College with a Higher National Diploma in Hotel & Catering Management in 1997. Industrial catering was a prominent industry then and her first role was as a Junior Catering Manager in Intel which had eight restaurants on site. She transferred to IBM with Campbell Catering and was their youngest Unit Manager at 23 years old with responsibility for two of the four site restaurants catering for thousands of people each day. She moved into the hotel industry in 2006 and went to work in what is now Central Hotel Tullamore for five years. This was followed by two years in the neighbouring The Bridge House, prior to her joining the team at Killashee.

Her meticulous attention to detail, organisational prowess, and keen eye for ensuring every event runs flawlessly, have garnered praise not only from clients but also from industry peers and colleagues.

Sinead embodies the qualities that define the most inspiring, dynamic, and driven employee. Her journey from duty manager to operations manager is a testament to her relentless pursuit of excellence.

Sinead is not only a remarkable leader but also an exemplary team player. Her approachable demeanour, willingness to lend a helping hand, and dedication to fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment have been instrumental in boosting team morale and productivity.

 

The four-star Killashee Hotel outside Naas in County Kildare provides a sanctuary for the business, couple and family travellers alike. With 141 luxurious bedrooms, 2 restaurants, 15 meeting rooms, 3 conference and event rooms, a ballroom, 2 weddings venues, an extensive Leisure Club with a 25-metre swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi and a spa with 15 treatment rooms. Killashee is part of FBD Hotels & Resorts, and the group has invested over €4 million into refurbishing the hotel since April 2022. The hotel which employees 370 full and part time staff.

Sinead is married to Dave Lawlor and spends her free time outdoors walking and exploring with her husband and their golden retriever Fergie, friends and family.
