The Hoban Hotel Completes Fáilte Ireland Accessibility Programme and Joins Mobility Mojo Accessibility Hub
The Hoban Hotel Kilkenny has successfully completed Fáilte Ireland’s Access for Success Programme, a national initiative designed to help tourism businesses create more accessible and inclusive experiences for visitors.
As part of the programme, The Hoban Hotel has also been added to the Mobility Mojo Accessibility Hub, an online platform that provides guests with detailed, independently verified information about a hotel’s accessibility features before they visit. The hub allows visitors to explore practical information about parking, entrances, public areas, bedrooms, bathrooms and dining spaces, helping them make informed decisions and plan their stay with confidence.
Accessibility Across the Full Guest Journey
The Access for Success Programme encourages tourism businesses to look beyond physical accessibility and consider the entire guest journey. While features such as ramps, lifts and accessible bedrooms are important, the programme highlighted that accessibility often begins long before a guest arrives at reception.
As part of the programme, The Hoban Hotel completed a comprehensive accessibility audit with Mobility Mojo. The assessment examined access to the hotel, public areas, dining facilities, accommodation and the availability of accessibility information. The resulting profile provides prospective guests with transparent, detailed information that helps them determine whether the hotel meets their individual needs.
Inclusive Improvements for a Wider Range of Visitors
The hotel offers a range of accessibility features, including accessible parking, step-free access throughout key public areas, lift access to guest accommodation, accessible bedrooms and bathrooms, and clear information about facilities and services available during a stay.
The Access for Success Programme also included training for hotel teams, helping colleagues across all departments gain a deeper understanding of accessible and inclusive tourism. A key learning from the programme was that accessibility improvements benefit a much wider audience than many people realise, from guests with disabilities to parents travelling with buggies, older visitors and those recovering from injury.
Speaking about the achievement, Hugh Fitzpatrick, General Manager said:
“We are delighted to have completed Fáilte Ireland’s Access for Success Programme. The programme has helped us better understand the needs of our guests and identify ways to make their experience even more welcoming and accessible. Accessibility is about much more than physical facilities. It’s about providing clear information, understanding individual needs and ensuring guests feel confident and comfortable throughout their stay.”
“Being included on the Mobility Mojo Accessibility Hub is an important part of that commitment. It allows us to provide detailed and transparent information that helps guests understand our facilities before they arrive and make informed decisions when planning their visit.”
The Hoban Hotel was one of five PREM Group hotels to complete Fáilte Ireland’s Access for Success Programme, alongside Osprey Hotel Kildare, Viking Hotel Waterford, Aspect Hotel Park West Dublin and Cahernane House Hotel Killarney.
