Cork International Hotel scoops two awards at IHI Hospitality Management Awards

Davina Murphy was named Accommodation Manager of the Year at the prestigious IHI Hospitality Management Awards and Alex Kelly was awarded Food and Beverage Manager of the Year.

Deputy General Manager of the Cork International Hotel Edel Kavanagh was also nominated for Deputy General Manager of the Year for her dedication and impact on the hotel’s entire team.

The annual awards are hosted by The Irish Hospitality Institute and recognise the leaders in the hospitality and tourism industry who elevate guest experience, inspire their teams and shape the future of hospitality.

The gala ceremony was held on Thursday evening at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road in Dublin.

Alex Kelly joined the Cork International Hotel in 2023. During his time with the hotel he has proactively pursued personal growth through LEAN courses, applying these principles to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and drive measurable results. His approach to leadership is hands-on and approachable, he explains tasks clearly, holds regular team meetings and training sessions, and always leads by example, setting a standard that inspires his team.

Davina Murphy joined the team in 2018 and her forward-focused approach has driven long-term strategies that elevate the guest experience. The department’s role in supporting the hotel’s Tripadvisor Best of the Best recognition, placing it among the top 25 hotels in Ireland and the top 1% worldwide, is a clear reflection of her leadership and commitment to excellence.
