The College Green Hotel: Paying Homage to Dublin’s History

Tuesday, October 24, 2023. 3:21pm

The College Green Hotel Dublin, Autograph Collection officially announced its arrival in the city with a spectacular tribute to Dublin’s boundless creative and industrial energy.

The College Green Hotel is a unique blend of Dublin’s history and character, and guests were introduced to the rich tapestry of its history, brought to life within its walls, and discovered the vibrant spirit of their dedicated team who warmly welcomed each guest on their launch journey throughout the hotel.

Over 300 hundred invited guests and dignitaries were greeted by stilt walkers in period costumes and enjoyed the soothing tones of the Suitable Saxes and spent the evening enjoying the hotels’ extraordinary transformation as they journeyed through Dublin’s storied eras, complete with sumptuous wines, kindly sponsored by Findlater & Co., incredible locally sourced food and epic music and entertainment at each turn of the century.

Moreland’s Grill was the first port of call, which was transformed into a culinary homage to Dublin’s Fair City with trad duo, The Liffey Crossing playing contemporary Irish tunes and Executive Chef Stephen Maguire and Executive Sous-Chef Mihai Costin, wowing guests with an amazing display of the best of Irish seafood including Dublin bay prawns and cockles & mussels and an elaborate ice sculpture showcasing the quality products on offer. Guests were also treated at the Grill Station where cooked to-order steak beef sliders were served using locally sourced meat prepared on the in-house Josper Grill. Signature tasting plates from Moreland’s Grill’s current menu were a particular hit on the night.

Guests swiftly moved on to the Victorian era as they entered The Atrium Lounge and enjoyed the classic String Quartet, playing a contemporary Bridgerton set and delighted in their famous Afternoon Tea selection. Each Autograph Collection property has their own signature called “The Mark” and the hotel was proud to showcase their new exclusive bespoke tea offering, that hotel residents get to experience in the comfort of their bedrooms. The tea is a sophisticated blend of Darjeeling, elderflower, and lemon verbena. Guests savoured their new signature tea inspired cocktail, The College Green and devoured the many sweet treats on offer.

The Mint Bar provided a very different atmosphere, paying homage to the business magnates, movers, and shakers of Dublin, those of old who had their finger on the pulse of the city.  Previously a bank vault, it was a place to store wealth, secure valuables, and a general keeper of secrets! Now in the depths of the hotel, it retains the discrete ambience of its former purpose, and guests were thrilled to dabble in some casino games, indulge in some cocktails and were entertained by the fantastic jazz trio, Cary Posavitz & The Players.

The grand finale was held in the magnificent Banking Hall where MC, extraordinaire, Jennifer Zamparelli warmly welcomed guests, introducing General Manager, Joanne Dillon who said a few words to officially launch The College Green Hotel, Autograph Collection.   Invited guests partied into the late hours as Spring Break gave an electrifying performance, bringing everyone back to the 80s’ followed by a current DJ set, landing guests firming back to the present!

To celebrate the official launch of the College Green Hotel Dublin, they have created an introductory offer available for stays from Oct 17th, 2023, until 29th Feb 2024 (subject to availability and blackout dates apply). From €405 per room per night to include breakfast and a complimentary College Green Hotel bespoke Tea Cocktail for two people sharing.
