Golfers at Lough Erne Resort can now access the same advanced ball-tracking technology featured in professional televised golf tournaments with the recent installation of Toptracer at the Resort’s Golf Academy.

This significant enhancement provides players with unprecedented real-time insights into their swing and ball flight, revolutionising practice sessions and coaching alike.

Installed across eight bays on the driving range, the Toptracer system utilises cutting-edge CMOS image sensors to capture and analyse every shot’s trajectory, distance, swing speed, and ball curve. By delivering detailed, immediate data, it enables golfers of all skill levels to understand key aspects of their technique and make informed adjustments to improve their game.

Barry McCauley, Director of Golf at Lough Erne Resort, explained the impact:

“Toptracer provides instant and detailed swing analysis to enhance the user experience at the driving range. As part of a process, golfers can then take this detailed analysis and work alongside our resident PGA Professional Damian Mooney to further improve their game. Golfers can build tailored development plans informed by real Toptracer data, accelerating their progress on the course.”

While the technology has obvious benefits for those serious about developing their game, it also includes interactive features designed to make golf more fun and accessible.

The interactive bays feature engaging games such as Angry Birds Golf and offer virtual rounds on iconic courses like Royal Portrush, making it an inviting environment for beginners and families. The sheltered bays further ensure that practice and play can continue comfortably throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions.

“We want to break down barriers to golf and make it enjoyable for everyone,” Barry added. “Whether you’re aiming to refine your technique or just looking for a fun activity with family, our new facilities provide an exciting, year-round golf experience.”

Since the pandemic, the Golf Academy at Lough Erne Resort has seen increasing participation from both local players and Resort guests, and the integration of Toptracer technology marks a new chapter in expanding access to the sport while supporting high-performance training.

Golfers also have the option to connect their sessions with the Toptracer app, saving their data for ongoing practice and player development at any Toptracer-enabled facility worldwide.
