Park Hotel Kenmare today announces the opening of Landscape – a 900m₂ spa and wellness destination that marks one of the most significant developments in the hotel’s 129-year history.

Built on a simple belief

Landscape is built on a simple belief: that our relationships to the land, to water, to nature, to ourselves, and to one another, are what determine how well we live. The outer landscape of is understood here not as a backdrop, but as a powerful, active ingredient.

“We wanted to create something that was truly of this place,” said Bryan Meehan, owner of Park Hotel Kenmare. “We are grounded by this extraordinary landscape, the elements, and our literary tradition. Landscape was built on this idea – a place where rural Ireland itself does the work. Where you leave feeling not just rested, but changed by where you’ve been.”

The Stone Bath – the heart of Landscape.

The Stone Bath at the Park Hotel Kenmare

At the heart of Landscape is the Stone Bath – an outdoor warm mineral bath, open year-round to the elements and the Kerry sky, centred around a single great stone from the nearby Dromgarriff Rainforest. A poem is inscribed here – the first words many guests will encounter as they step into the waters. Inspired by the centuries-old tradition of communal bathing and the elemental power of this coastline, the Stone Bath is the centrepiece of a spa that includes five treatment rooms, a cold plunge, steam room, sauna, lap pool, fitness centre and pilates and yoga studio.

The pilates studio is equipped with both Reformer and Cadillac. Treatments at Landscape have been developed by brands Susanne Kaufmann and Seabody. Landscape will also offer significant tech-delivered optimisation experiences advised by a Meehan family friend Dr. Mark Hyman, and programmes including LED masks, lymphatic suits, light panels, and IHHT. Landscape is open to hotel guests and day visitors alike.

THE SPA was designed by Jo Nagasaka of Schemata Architects, Tokyo – longstanding collaborators of Bryan and Tara Meehan – together with Bantry-based architect, Joe Collins. Contemporary in design, elemental in material, it sits alongside the Victorian hotel as a deliberate companion – a new chapter written in the same spirit Bryan and Tara have brought to the entire property.

Alongside the Spa sit six new Landscape suites, a complementary contrast to the original hotel bedrooms and suites that have also been thoughtfully renovated. The interior design is the work of Tara Meehan and Simon Paul. Each suite looks out into the woodland and over Kenmare Bay through floor-to-ceiling windows, lined in Kilkenny limestone and oak. These beautiful suites take their names from lines written by Irish poets.

Grace O’Connor, General Manager of Park Hotel Kenmare says,

“Landscape represents an exciting new chapter for Park Hotel Kenmare. It offers our guests another way to experience the beauty, culture and spirit of this remarkable place, while also creating a wellness destination that the local community, as well as our guests, can enjoy. We hope everyone who visits leaves feeling more connected, to nature, to themselves and to Kerry.”

Most places ask you to switch off. Landscape asks something more generous – to be exactly where you are, and open to whatever stirs the heart. For owners Bryan and Tara Meehan, at Park Hotel Kenmare, that has always been the hotel’s invitation. Because the beauty of nature, they believe, is what makes us well.

An overnight stay in one of their new Landscape Suites, including a spa treatment and access to Landscape, their spa, with breakfast the following morning, starts from €1,025 per room. For bookings, visit www.parkkenmare.com
