Aramark Ireland is celebrating colleague Daniel O’Brien, who won two gold medals and a bronze medal at the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games.
Daniel, who works front of house as part of Aramark’s team at Siemens Healthineers in Swords, competed in three swimming events at the Games, taking gold in the 50m freestyle and relay, and bronze in the 25m backstroke. He also received a Special Recognition Award, voted for by coaches and volunteers, in recognition of his kindness, respect, encouragement of others and positive spirit throughout the competition.
Daniel joined Aramark through the company’s partnership with WorkAbility Fingal Leader Partnership (FLP) and Prosper Fingal, a not-for-profit social care organisation supporting adults with intellectual disabilities across North County Dublin. WorkAbility FLP is funded by the European Union and the Government of Ireland to support people with disabilities, including individuals supported by Prosper Fingal, to develop employment skills, move towards work, and secure meaningful employment in their local communities. The partnership has helped Daniel access a role where he has become a valued member of the Aramark team, known for his friendliness, positive attitude and dedication.
Daniel trains every week with his local club, Jets Swimming Club, attending sessions on Sundays. He credits consistent training, teamwork and maintaining a balanced lifestyle as key factors in his success.
To mark his achievement, Daniel’s colleagues came together for a small celebration, where he was congratulated by colleagues from across the site.
