Gold in the Green Tourism Ireland Accreditation for The Limerick Strand Hotel
The Limerick Strand Hotel is thrilled to announce that Green Tourism awarded their highest accreditation level – Gold, in recognition of their commitment to sustainability and the efforts made over the past few years.
This award is a testament to the hotel’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Green Tourism Ireland works to promote a greener, cleaner environment for people, places, and our planet. They recognise and support eco-friendly achievements of tourism businesses with their internationally respected accreditation programme of Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards.
“We are delighted to be acknowledged for our efforts in reducing our ecological footprint and promoting eco-friendly practices within our establishment. Receiving Gold in the Green Tourism Accreditation reaffirms our dedication to making conscientious choices that are committed to continually improving our environmental performance,” said Stephen O’Connor, General Manager.
Green Tourism Ireland’s Bronze/Silver/Gold Accreditation Awards are acknowledged worldwide as an indicator of environmentally friendly practice and are a great way of progressing on a sustainability journey as well as acting as a hallmark of ‘green quality,’ attracting custom from increasing numbers of eco-minded visitors.
Last month, the hotel launched its new Green Meetings and Green Weddings initiatives, offering ideas on hosting greener, more sustainable events. It also partnered with Irish Charity, Hometree, and for every conference of over 100 attendees and each wedding, a native tree will be planted, reinforcing their commitment to environmental responsibility. Hotel guests can also donate to Hometree via QR codes displayed throughout the hotel or the website, joining them in their mission to make a positive impact on Irish woodlands.
The Limerick Strand Hotel understands the importance of preserving the environment for future generations. They are dedicated to reducing energy consumption, minimizing waste, and conserving resources wherever possible. The hotel makes small but meaningful efforts to increase biodiversity within the hotel and on hotel grounds. Recently, they installed an insect hotel, providing shelter and nesting facilities for many types of insects in all seasons. It may provide a temporary or permanent home for solitary bees or wasps or be a safe space for insects to hatch. All the bugs are essential to healthy ecosystems, pollination, and soil quality and attract birds.
The Limerick Strand is determined to raise awareness amongst staff and guests about the importance of environmental conservation and will continue to educate and engage with their team and patrons, encouraging them to join in their mission to protect our precious planet.
