Swiss Perfection in Harmony With Irish Hospitality in the South of France

Wednesday, November 29, 2023. 11:03am

Following two years of renovation work at Le Moulin sur Célé, owners Marc Gysling and Deirdre Mc Glone opened the doors of the former 16th century watermill to welcome guests during the summer and autumn of 2023. They have created a unique holiday experience and are setting the standard for excellence in the exclusive holiday villa rental market in France.

Originally from Switzerland, Marc re-located to Ireland to join his late brother Jody Gysling in the opening of the multi-award winning Harvey’s Point Hotel in Donegal. It was there that he met his future wife, local girl, Deirdre McGlone and together they managed Harvey’s Point for thirty years until they sold the hotel in 2019. In buying Le Moulin, they realised a life-long dream to own a property in France.

“I have been responsible for overseeing the building project from the beginning and it has been wonderful to see Le Moulin coming back to life. With it’s rich history and unique French charm, it is a property that deserves to be lived in and loved. Bookings are flying in for next year and beyond, and most guests have rebooked or are intending to rebook following their visit this year”, says Marc.

“It has been our honour and pleasure to welcome guests to Le Moulin during 2023, and we’ve enjoyed our return to the wonderful world of hospitality. It’s a great source of pride to have received such excellent feedback from our discerning guests, which encourages us to raise the bar even higher in terms of quality and customer service”, adds Deirdre.

The dynamic couple have unveiled exciting plans for the future to include additional luxury cottages for couples and a spa / wellness facility, which is scheduled to open in 2025. As their love for the Lot region grows, so does their local network of partners and producers. Therefore, they are currently working on developing a bespoke concierge service for guests. Marc and Deirdre look forward to building Le Moulin brand and sharing their passion for hospitality and the story of their ‘Belle Vie en France’.

Located in the heart of the Célé valley in southwest France, Le Moulin is an exclusive holiday rental villa that combines rustic charm with high standards of personalised service for up to 10 guests. Owned and managed by former hoteliers, the Gysling family, this newly renovated 16th century watermill is available to rent on a weekly basis from May to October. Guests enjoy the privacy of the grounds, swimming pool and riverbank, as well as the option of exploring the Lot region of France which is noted for it’s food, wine, culture and stunning scenery on the pilgrim’s path to Santiago de Compostela.
