Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel, were awarded two prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards on 1st October, being named Ireland’s Leading Luxury Hotel and Ireland’s Leading Hotel Suite for their stunning Presidential Suite.
Fairmont Carton House’s Director of Talent and Culture, Selina Murphy and Director of Food & Beverage, Thomas Lagrue attended the red carpet Gala awards ceremony which took place in Mallorca Galatzo in Spain, accepting the awards on behalf of the hotel. The World Travel Awards, now in their 29th year, is recognised as one of the most prestigious honours programme in travel and tourism, voted for by travel professionals, media and consumers worldwide, and recognising excellence in the travel and hospitality industry.
The spectacular 18th century Palladian-style mansion, Fairmont, Carton House, reopened in June 2021 after a two-year multimillion-euro total renovation of the original house, surrounding hotel and stunning grounds and parkland. Carton House, a Fairmont Managed Hotel, is one of Ireland’s most historic country houses and was built over 300 years ago as the home of the influential and aristocratic FitzGerald family. In 2021 Carton House became a Fairmont Managed Hotel, joining over 80 Fairmont hotels around the globe as the oldest property in a collection famed for its grande dame hotels such as The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, in London and The Plaza, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, in New York City.
