The five-star Monart Destination Spa is ensuring that those undergoing cancer care can enjoy spa visits and treatments with the Spa team having completed a specialist cancer care training programme in order to deliver treatments correctly and effectively.

Spa Manager at Monart Destination Spa Amy Kenny says that oftentimes those undergoing cancer care can often find themselves unable to enjoy a spa treatment, however ‘this is not the case at Monart Destination Spa.’

During covid restrictions, while guest capacity was limited across the hospitality sector the Spa therapist team took the opportunity to undertake specialist training with spa professional of over 30 years and the founder of Clinton Cancer Care in New York, Christine Clinton. Christine is a clinical specialist, an alumni of  Harvard Medical School and her work was recently recognised by The Global Wellness Institute. The spa team at Monart undertook specialist therapist training in medical massage for cancer patients Skincare, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Reiki, Lymphatic Drainage, Energy Medicine and Therapeutic Massage.

Monart Destination Spa takes an integrative approach to wellness and includes a variety of modalities for guests living with cancer, each visit to the Spa is tailored to the unique needs of each and every guest. The aim is to offer inclusivity in a spa setting, and as such Monart has created a profoundly restorative and balancing Touch Therapy Treatment Programme for guests living with cancer or with a history of cancer.

Amy says, “Our specialist therapist training ensures that our team understand the side effects of cancer treatments. This training provides us with the expertise to provide respite, support and offers and opportunity to enhance the quality of life for our guests who may be living with cancer or with a history of cancer. The range of treatments available to these guests includes massage, bespoke facial treatments, reflexology and reiki.”
