One combines the two malt cousins of beer and whiskey to produce a decadent Imperial Stout finished Irish whiskey; the other is finished in the finest Calvados casks from Normandy’s Chateau du Breuil, which produces some of the world’s finest Calvados.
A third – the Newborn Single Pot Still – was voted World’s Best New Make and Young Spirit at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards this year.
Whistler Imperial Stout Cask Finish

A new collaboration between Drogheda-based Boann Distillery and Carlow’s O’Hara Brewery has resulted in a 3,000 bottle limited-release Whistler Imperial Stout Cask Finish Batch 002.
Freshly disgorged single malt sherry casks were filled with O’Hara’s award-winning Imperial Stout beer and left to mature and soak into the wood for a minimum of six months. The casks were then refilled with Boann’s Whistler whiskey, to be matured for a further six months.
The Whistler Imperial Stout Cask Finish Batch 002 boasts a bespoke blend of whiskeys for this release, with 50% wheat whiskey, 35% malt whiskey and 15% grain, which bestow deeper notes of roasted coffee and cacao nibs.
Best enjoyed neat, rocks, or with your favourite pint of Irish stout.

Whistler Calvados Cask Finish Batch 002

Another collaboration has produced the Whistler Calvados Cask Finish Batch 002, a continuation of the collaboration between the Whistler’s Boann Distillery and famed Calvados makers, Chateau du Breuil.
Triple distilled for extra smoothness, this whiskey is a rare, high malt content, cask finished blend that comprises 35% malt whiskey and 65% grain whiskey.
Both components have been independently matured in ex-bourbon casks for a minimum of four years before being married and re-casked for 15 months, finishing in the finest Calvados casks from Normandy’s Chateau du Breuil.
This combination has produced a very fruit-forward, creamy and delicious whiskey which is incredibly interesting to sip neat or in an apple-inspired cocktail.

Single Pot Still ‘New Born’ New Make Spirit
RRP: €24.95 for 200ml
Boann Distillery’s mixed mashbill Single Pot Still Spirit won the World’s Best New Make Spirit at the World Whiskies Awards 2021.
Produced in Boann Distillery’s state-of-the-art distillery, it is a mash of 40% malted barley, 55% green barley, 3.75% oats and 1.25% rye and it limited to 1,000 bottles.
