660,000 Italians to tune in to the West of Ireland

La7 – a TV channel in Italy – is filming along the Wild Atlantic Way this week. They’re filming two episodes for a popular prime time TV show called Eden – Un pianeta da salvare (meaning ‘Eden – A planet to save’). Each episode will air to an estimated 660,000 viewers across Italy. Filming is supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

The episodes filmed here will showcase our spectacular landscapes and nature and will also focus on sustainable tourism. Filming is taking place at Doolin Cave, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Galway city and Cong. The TV crew is also filming people involved in sustainable tourism.

Ornella Gamacchio, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Italy, said: “Tourism Ireland is delighted to support the filming of ‘Eden – Un pianeta da salvare’. With around 660,000 people across Italy expected to watch each episode, it’s a great way to shine a spotlight on the West of Ireland – highlighting our spectacular scenery, as well as sustainable tourism. It will remind viewers across Italy why Ireland is a great choice for a holiday.”

Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity, to keep Ireland front and centre in the minds of future visitors from Italy and elsewhere around the world, to rebuild tourism to Ireland.
