Since January staff at the hotel are being regularly tested for Covid 19 using Covid Rapid Antigen testing equipment. The hotel have invested €4,000 in PPE and testing equipment in this first quarter and commit to continue this regime as hospitality opens up and those who have not yet received the vaccine return to work. “We can’t control the speed of the roll out of the vaccine across our staff, but we can take steps to protect them and our customers now and when things do open up further, and hopefully in the not too distant future” said Des O’Dowd owner of Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa.The resort continues to employ 50 staff full time, some of those are working in admin roles and others operating a takeaway food offerings from the hotel as well as the Silver Surfer mobile takeaway unit outside the hotel which means they have some interaction with customers.“We’ve already had a great reaction to the testing from staff as everyone feels more protected while they are coming into work with others. I feel it’s the right thing to do. I would view it as a great tool, like mask wearing and social distancing, to help us keep people as safe as possible we would plan to continue this when we reopen to ensure the safety of all employees coming back to work,” said Des.
