Can’t decide whether to head to the country or enjoy a city break this year – now you don’t have to as two of Ireland’s finest five-star hotels have partnered to launch a Luxury Town & Country Staycation package.
The spectacular Ashford Castle in Co. Mayo and the opulent Merrion Hotel in Dublin’s City Centre have teamed up so guests can enjoy the best of both worlds with a two-night stay in The Capital before heading West for a further two nights.
THE TOWN & COUNTRY OFFER
The Luxury Town & Country Staycation is priced from €3,470 for two people sharing for four nights. As part of the package, guests will enjoy a two-night stay in one of Ashford Castle’s Deluxe rooms, with a five-course dinner in the hotel’s George V dining room on one evening of choice.
The package includes one activity on the grounds of the Ashford Castle Estate with a choice of Horse Riding, Archery or Clay Pigeon Shooting. A one-hour history tour of the castle and wine tasting for two in Ashford Castle’s historic wine cellars is also included.
At The Merrion Hotel, guests will stay in a main house deluxe room for two nights, with dinner included on one night in The Merrion’s two-star Michelin restaurant, Patrick Guilbaud.
This package also includes a full body massage or facial for two in The Merrion Spa as well as tickets to visit one of Dublin’s top museums, with a choice between; The Little Museum of Dublin; EPIC – The Irish Emigration Museum or MoLi – The new Museum of Literature in Dublin.
A chilled bottle of champagne will await guests on arrival at both hotels with a full Irish breakfast on each morning of the trip. Complimentary bike hire is also available at Ashford Castle and The Merrion so guests can explore their surroundings and take in the sights and sounds of the cityscape and countryside.

The offer is available from June – October 2021 and the prices are based on two people sharing across consecutive dates, in each property. Bookings for the Luxury Town & Country Staycation can be made through either hotel.

THE MERRION
The Merrion, located in the heart of Dublin’s City Centre, is one of Ireland’s most historic five-star hotels which dates back to the 1760s. The hotel features a beautiful contemporary Garden Wing, with 142 bedrooms and suites arranged around two 18th century style gardens.
Guests can pull a pint of creamy Guinness in The Cellar Bar, take Art Afternoon Tea in The Georgian Drawing Rooms, study The Merrion’s private collection of 19th- and 20th-century art, or relax in the tranquil surroundings of The Merrion Spa.
The Merrion has a choice of two restaurants; the only two-star Michelin restaurant in Ireland, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, offering formal gourmet dining, or The Garden Room overlooking The Merrion’s tranquil gardens, with an all-day casual dining menu.
