Tourism Professional Recognised Nationally for Her Leadership and Contribution to Heritage Tourism

Jess Sinnott, Acting General Manager at Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum and Gardens in County Wexford, has been named the inaugural winner of the Business Plus Tourism 40 Under 40 Award, recognising the emerging talent shaping the future of Ireland’s tourism industry.

40 under 40

The Tourism 40 Under 40 initiative celebrates 40 outstanding young professionals making a significant contribution to tourism across Ireland. The award is organised and independently selected by Business Plus and was presented at a special finale at the Convention Centre Dublin, in partnership with the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC).

Jess’s achievement marks a significant milestone in a career built on dedication, ambition and a passion for heritage tourism. Having joined Johnstown Castle in 2019 as a café assistant, she has progressed through the organisation to become Acting General Manager, reflecting the opportunities available to develop a rewarding career within Ireland’s heritage and visitor attractions sector.

Her nomination for the award recognised her work in developing the estate’s volunteer programme, enhancing the visitor experience and encouraging more young people to consider careers in heritage tourism. Her contribution has helped support Johnstown Castle’s continued development as a leading visitor attraction in the south east, bringing its historic estate, museum and gardens to life for visitors.

Commenting on the award win, Jess says,

“I am delighted and honoured to be the inaugural recipient of ITIC’s 40 Under 40 award. Being nominated was a wonderful surprise in itself, but then to win the award was incredibly special. I’m very proud to be the first recipient and very grateful to everyone at the Irish Heritage Trust and Johnstown Castle who have supported and encouraged me along the way.”

Anne O’Donoghue, CEO of the Irish Heritage Trust said

“This award is a national recognition of Jess’s professional journey and the role of emerging leaders in strengthening Ireland’s tourism and heritage sector. Her progression from café assistant to Acting General Manager also highlights the value of investing in people, creating opportunities for career development and nurturing the next generation of tourism professionals”.

Since 2019 Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum and Gardens is cared for and managed by the independent non-profit the Irish Heritage Trust, and offers visitors the opportunity to explore its historic castle, museum, ornamental gardens and extensive parkland in County Wexford.
