Two special Ireland episodes of the popular Italian culinary travel show feature Cork city and county.

Images of Cork city and county will be beamed into the homes of around 2.7 million Italians, when two special Ireland episodes of a popular culinary travel show called L’ingrediente perfetto – A tu per tu (meaning: ‘The Perfect Ingredient – Face to Face’) began airing over the weekend on the TV station La7. Filmed earlier this year, the episodes are co-produced by Tourism Ireland.

Fronted by Italian actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta, the show typically explores local stories, traditions and cuisines through interviews with featured guests.

The two Ireland episodes will showcase the exceptional food scene in Cork city and county – set against the backdrop of the area’s beautiful scenery. Locations set to feature in Cork city include the English Market, Ballycotton and Coolea Farmhouse Cheese.

The crew also filmed in Midleton and Cobh, visiting the Midleton Distillery Experience, Belvelly Smoke House, the Port of Cobh and the Cobh Titanic Memorial Garden.

With over 70% of potential visitors considering food when choosing a holiday destination, Tourism Ireland is highlighting the exceptional food and drink available right across Ireland.

Aidan Power, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Marketing, said:

“Tourism Ireland was delighted to support the production of ‘L’ingrediente perfetto – A tu per tu’ through our International Programming Ireland Fund. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase Cork’s exceptional food scene and to highlight Ireland as a ‘must visit’ destination for Italian foodies. Our aim is to inspire viewers to come and experience Cork city and county for themselves.”

Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of promotional activity, to inspire travellers in Italy, and elsewhere around the world, to put Ireland on their holiday wish-list.
