Largest expansion in hotel’s 36-year history adds 21 New family bedrooms and creates 30 new jobs
The Park Hotel Dungarvan, part of the award-winning Flynn Hotel Collection, has announced the largest expansion since the hotel first opened in 1990.
The €4 million investment includes the development of 21 new family bedrooms, increasing the hotel’s bedroom capacity from 84 to 105, creating approximately 30 new roles across accommodation, food and beverage and hotel operations, and a €150,000 upgrade of the hotel’s outdoor Garden Bar, alongside further investment in its leisure facilities.
New family floor
The new family floor has significantly increased the hotel’s capacity for family stays. Ten of the new rooms can accommodate two adults, two children and a baby, while eleven can accommodate two adults, three children and a baby. The room mix also includes a two-bedroom family suite suitable for two adults, two children and a baby.
The expansion comes as Dungarvan continues to grow in popularity as a destination for family holidays, short stays and seasonal breaks. With the Waterford Greenway, beaches, playgrounds, Dungarvan Castle and a wide range of outdoor and cultural activities nearby, the Park Hotel provides a convenient base for families looking to explore Dungarvan and the wider West Waterford area.
Designed with modern family travel in mind, the new bedrooms combine comfort, practicality and contemporary design. Inspired by the natural beauty of the locality, interiors feature warm earthy tones, heritage-inspired plaids, natural textures and durable finishes, alongside purpose-built bunk beds and thoughtfully designed family spaces. The result is a warm and welcoming environment where families can relax together after a day spent exploring the area.
The investment also reflects the Flynn Hotel Collection’s longstanding focus on family hospitality. Sister properties Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny and The Old Ground Hotel in Ennis have earned national recognition for their family offerings on a number of occasions, with the Park Hotel’s new family floor drawing on that experience while creating an offering tailored to their own locality.
€150,000 upgrade of the hotel’s Garden Bar and leisure facilities
In addition to the new family accommodation the €4 million investment includes €150,000 towards upgrading the hotel’s Garden Bar and outdoor space. The enhanced area provides an attractive setting for drinks, dining and time outdoors, while improvements to the Riverside Health Club have also been completed, including the addition of a new sauna.
