The investment reinforces Sysco’s position as the leading fresh produce supplier to the Irish hospitality sector.
Sysco Ireland is investing €2.3m ($2.7m USD) in its ReadyChef business in Glasnevin, marking a significant step forward in its fresh and prepared produce strategy. The investment will expand production capacity, upgrade technology, and support growing demand for both high-care and low-care ready to eat and ready to cook products, reinforcing Sysco’s position as the leading fresh produce supplier to the Irish hospitality sector.
Originally established by William Tallon Snr. in the 1960s and today led by his sons William and David, ReadyChef was purchased by Sysco in 2023 and is Ireland’s leading BRCAA* accredited high-care Ready to Eat and low-care Ready to Cook production facility.
New brand identity signals next phase of growth for ReadyChef
Alongside the announced investment, the company has unveiled a new brand identity for ReadyChef, designed to reflect recent changes in the business, reinforce its family heritage, and future-proof the brand for growth in both personnel and product ranges, while supporting Sysco’s ambition to help shape the future of foodservice in Ireland.
According to William Tallon, Managing Director – ReadyChef, the rebrand reflects both the scale of recent investment and ReadyChef’s evolving role within professional kitchens:
This 2.3m investment marks an exciting next chapter for ReadyChef. With Sysco Ireland’s support, we will be able to expand our capacity and strengthen our technology, so we can meet growing demand across the island of Ireland for both high-care Ready to Eat and low-care Ready to Cook produce solutions. Our new brand identity reflects who we are today, while signalling the scale of ambition for what comes next.
Customised produce solutions for smarter kitchen operations
ReadyChef’s team of produce specialists works closely with customers to deliver bespoke cuts and tailored solutions, helping professional kitchens manage margins, reduce waste, save labour, and ensure consistency at every stage of service.
David McEnroe, Speciality Business Director at Sysco Ireland, said:
“The multi-million euro investment together with the rebrand of ReadyChef demonstrates our commitment to the future of fresh and prepped produce across the island of Ireland and emphasises the important role the operation plays in our wider growth strategy.
“This investment enables enhanced production capabilities, expanded capacity and greater innovation to meet the evolving needs of our customers. It also allows us to offer a broader and more flexible range of high-quality Ready to Eat and Ready to Cook products, supported by deeper expertise, stronger provenance and unrivalled consistency.”
Irish-first sourcing with year round supply assurance
Alongside its prepped produce expertise, ReadyChef remains firmly rooted in produce with an Irish-first sourcing philosophy, prioritising freshness and flavour. This is supported by long-standing partnerships with growers across the island of Ireland, complemented by a carefully managed global grower network to ensure reliable, year-round supply when Irish produce is out of season.
