Butlers Chocolates sponsor The Food and Drink Magazine Award – judged by Felicity Cloake, food writer and award winning Guardian columnist.

The Irish Food Writing Awards ceremony will take place on November 13th in the RDS In Dublin. This is the fifth year of the awards, established to acknowledge the highest achievements in books, journalism, restaurant critiques, feature writing, recipe writing, photography, podcasts and social media on Irish food and drink. Uniquely, the awards are judged only by the most prestigious UK and International media, ensuring impartiality.

Each year the categories are revised to ensure that they best reflect the current landscape for food and drink content. This year sees Butlers Chocolates sponsor The Food and Drink Magazine Award – a hotly contested category. For 2025 it is being judged by Felicity Cloake, food writer and award winning Guardian columnist.

Aisling Walsh of Butlers Chocolates said

We are thrilled to partner with the Irish Food Writing Awards this year. Food and Drink magazine writers play such an important role in supporting Ireland’s producers and we are delighted to sponsor this award to honour this year’s lucky recipient.”

Irish Food Writing Awards founder Suzanne Campbell says

It is such a coup to have Butlers Chocolates on board as a sponsor. Their values align perfectly with the work of the Irish writers and journalists working in food and drink that we celebrate through these awards. Butlers Chocolates is one of Ireland’s most well loved family-owned businesses and their support, and that of all our sponsors and supporters, is hugely appreciated! There may even be some sweet treats on the Awards night!”

Butlers Chocolates – A Dublin icon since 1932

Established in Dublin in 1932, Butlers premium chocolates are made using sustainably sourced cocoa and contain zero palm oil. Sustainability is a huge driver of activities at Butlers and this, married with a commitment to great taste, excellent quality and beautiful packaging (recyclable where possible), has resulted in Butlers being the leading Irish made and owned chocolate brand it is today. Solar Power accounts for over 25% of the company’s energy needs and the Butlers factory in north Dublin is home to a large solar panel installation.

Their Butlers Chocolate Cafés are known for their beautifully appointed stores with the finest coffees and their famous hot chocolate, served alongside a complimentary chocolate of choice. Butlers produce a vast range of chocolates – gift boxes and assortments, chocolate bars, truffles and lots of sharing treats, in addition to seasonal collections at key times such as Christmas and Easter. Their café at 51 Grafton Street, has just re-opened after a gorgeous glow up (image attached) and now offers a pre-order kiosk for added convenience for time-pressed visitors.

Butlers factory is also home to the company’s Visitor Experience. Tickets can be booked online for Butlers The Factory Tour, where visitors can get to see the workings of a real life chocolate factory, in the company of a tour guide, in addition to perfecting their own skills as chocolatiers. This is a great venue for a lovely family day out, school tour or birthday. There is also an onsite Butlers Chocolate Café with plenty of free parking.
