The appointment of Paul Townend as ambassador reinforces Mount Juliet Estate’s dedication to equestrian excellence
Mount Juliet Estate is delighted to announce a new partnership with Paul Townend, one of the most successful and respected figures in National Hunt racing. As official brand ambassador, Paul Townend will work in collaboration with Mount Juliet Estate to deliver a series of campaigns and guest experiences that celebrate shared values of sporting excellence, equestrian tradition and refined countryside living.
Mount Juliet Estate, located in the heart of County Kilkenny, shares a longstanding connection with the world of equestrian sport. The estate has upheld a tradition of horsemanship for over 400 years and is home to one of Europe’s finest riding centres.
The Mount Juliet Estate Equestrian Centre offers an exceptional experience for guests of all levels, with FEI-standard show jumping paddocks, two arenas, cross-country trails and premium stabling facilities. A dedicated team of trainers and grooms oversee a wide range of riding experiences, from countryside treks and private lessons to curated packages such as picnic rides and proposal experiences.
The appointment of Paul Townend as ambassador reinforces Mount Juliet Estate’s dedication to equestrian excellence while strengthening its position as a destination for both professional insight and recreational riding. The collaboration will include tailored guest events, media activations and behind-the-scenes access to the world of jump racing, offering visitors a deeper connection to the values of commitment, craft and heritage that define both Paul Townend’s career and the estate itself.
Based in County Kilkenny, Paul Townend brings an extraordinary career to this new role. A seven-time Irish Champion Jockey, Paul made history in 2024 by becoming the first jockey to win the Champion Hurdle, Cheltenham Gold Cup, Aintree Grand National and King George VI Chase in a single season. His consistency, tactical intelligence and composure under pressure have earned him global recognition and admiration across the racing world.
Having joined Willie Mullins’ stable at the age of 15, Paul progressed quickly through the ranks, stepping into the position of number one rider following the retirement of the legendary Ruby Walsh. Since then, he has built an outstanding reputation, with a long list of Grade 1 victories and a record of leadership both on and off the course. In 2025, Paul secured the Leading Jockey title at Cheltenham for the fifth time, contributing to another record-breaking season for Mullins, crowned Irish and British Champion Trainer for the second year in succession.
Speaking about the partnership, Paul Townend said:
“I’m delighted to come on board as a brand ambassador for Mount Juliet Estate. Living locally, I’ve come to really appreciate everything the estate has to offer, from its rich equestrian heritage to its incredible golf course, which I’ve enjoyed over the past number of years. It’s a place that represents excellence and tradition, values that I try to carry through in my own career. I’m looking forward to working with the team to bring some exciting experiences to life and to share what makes this estate so special.”
Mark Dunne, General Manager of Mount Juliet Estate, commented:
“We are delighted to welcome Paul Townend as an ambassador for Mount Juliet Estate. Paul is a figure of outstanding achievement in the world of racing, but just as importantly, he embodies professionalism, humility and a natural affinity with horses. We are very much looking forward to working with Paul to celebrate the enduring relationship between sport, heritage and hospitality here in County Kilkenny.”
