This week, the team marks the anniversary and celebrates the dedication of four original team members who have been part of the Inchydoney story since day one
On 17th June 1998, Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa opened its doors on the stunning West Cork coastline, and 27 years later, the hotel continues to set the standard for warm Irish hospitality.
This week, the team is proud to mark the hotel’s 27th anniversary and to celebrate the dedication of four original team members who have been part of the Inchydoney story since day one.
Lorraine Maher, the hotel’s Bar Manager, has been welcoming guests with her signature charm since that very first summer season. Also part of the founding team are sisters Catriona O’Keefe, now General Manager, and Julie McSweeney, Deputy General Manager, whose leadership and passion continue to shape the guest experience and the hotel’s reputation for excellence.
And of course, Des O’Dowd, founder of Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa, whose vision and commitment brought the hotel to life in 1998 and who remains deeply involved in its growth and direction to this day.
Their dedication, experience, and care are at the heart of what makes Inchydoney so special, a place where guests return year after year, not just for the views and the sea air, but for the people who make them feel at home.
Here’s to 27 years of incredible memories and to many more ahead.
