As summer returns to the charming streets of Dublin, The Merrion hotel extends a warm invitation to both familiar faces and newcomers to indulge in the flavours of the season amidst the five-star hotel’s private gardens.
Nestled within the heart of the city, The Garden Room restaurant which opens to the beautiful Garden Terrace offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether relishing in the delights of al fresco dining on the lower terrace or within one of the six bespoke cabanas nestled around the hotel’s tranquil water features, guests can enjoy tantalising gastronomy delights this summer.
Executive Head Chef Ed Cooney and his team are delighted to reintroduce a seasonal favourite to the summer menu, The Garden Room Picnic. The bountiful feast is a delectable array of culinary delights including; Burren Smokehouse salmon blinis with dill crème fraiche, charred green asparagus with whipped feta and Amalfi lemon, devilled hens’ egg with mayonnaise, and toasted brioche with ham and gruyére cheese. For a sweet treat, the picnic also includes an assortment of desserts, featuring Eton mess, fruit tartlets with lemon balm, and Mississippi mud pie. The Garden Room picnic can be booked through The Garden Room restaurant, priced at €47.50 per person or €67.50 with a glass of champagne and can be enjoyed in the bespoke cabanas when the sun shines!
Other favourites to be enjoyed on the summer menu include the popular lobster roll. Priced at €29.50 per person or €49.50 with a glass of champagne, the lobster roll features a fluffy brioche bun with fresh Irish lobster sourced directly from the West Coast of Ireland. For the seafood enthusiasts, the Petit Plateau beckons, priced at €55. This lavish dish includes six Kelly oysters, six jumbo tiger prawns, crab with lime, cucumber, mayonnaise, dill trot caviar, homemade potato crisps and sauces including pickled ginger and spicey tomato. A jumbo prawn salad with cucumber, marinda tomato, dill, iceberg lettuce with cider vinegar dressing and sourdough toast is the perfect choice for a light lunch bite.
Guests can enhance their dining experience with the hotel’s very own lemon infused gin or opt for one of the recommended wine or champagne pairings.
