Darragh O’Connor has returned to Glenlo Abbey Hotel Estate as the Director of Sales & Marketing
Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate is delighted to welcome back Darragh O’Connor in his new role as Director of Sales & Marketing.
A Galway native, Darragh brings a wealth of experience, having most recently been Head of Sales for Glasson Lakehouse and the Dean Galway where he was part of the management team that repositioned Glasson Lakehouse from a country house hotel to a modern multi-award winning resort and an important member of the launch team for the new build Dean Hotel, Galway. Darragh is no stranger to Gleno and the MHL Group, having previously held various positions within the organisation including Corporate Sales for the 4* Harbour Hotel, Galway city and Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate.
Darragh is very popular with his peers at the MHL Group and during his two year hiatus, kept in close contact with colleagues and also a keen interest in the significant development and investment programme at Glenlo Abbey. When he got the call from General Manager Rónán O’Halloran to return to Glenlo, Darragh took the opportunity to further his career at one of Ireland’s leading 5* properties.

Darragh’s role is pivotal in driving revenue across all outlets of the hotel from our private dining rooms, guests rooms, suites, the luxury self-catering lodges, the iconic Pullman Restaurant, Palmers Bar and Kitchen, golf course and our boutique Glo Spa. We are delighted to welcome him back” said General Manager, Rónán O’Halloran.
Tourism and Sales are two things that Darragh is passionate about and is a graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management and has recently completed a professional diploma in Sales Management. He served as the founder and Chairperson of Galway Convention Bureau an organization set up to promote and develop business tourism to the Galway Region. He is also the current Chair of the Sales Professional Network and Co-Hosts the Sales Expert Podcasts.
Commenting on his new role, Darragh O’Connor said: “ It’s a very exciting time to be back at Glenlo with a number of capital projects at the planning phase and I look forward to continuing to grow our valued domestic leisure business and lucrative overseas market. Given Glenlo’s close proximity to Galway City and idyllic location on 140 acres overlooking Lough Corrib with an event space capturing that iconic vista it certainly appeals to companies looking to invest in strategy sessions and team building events”.
When not at work, Darragh enjoys spending time with his wife Emma and their children Jack and Eva. They also love to travel as a family, treasuring each experience collectively.
Darragh is an avid tennis player and enjoys running. His latest interest is a Podcast that he co-founded called the Sales Expert Podcast, where they interview sales experts from a range of diverse industries.
