Sustainability Forming the Foundation of Bunzl McLaughlin

Part of Bunzl plc and supplying the trade since 1874, Bunzl McLaughlin is regarded as a market leader in the hospitality and catering sectors across Ireland, providing non-food consumables and equipment.

Known for their prominent presence within the industry, Bunzl McLaughlin understand their role as an influential leader, specifically in the transition to a more sustainable and equitable future.

Bunzl’s pledge to achieve a more sustainable future is reflected in its ambitious emissions targets. Bunzl aims for a 25% improvement in carbon efficiency by 2025 and 50% by 2030 (against a 2019 baseline). This also includes 100% Group-wide renewable energy procurement by 2030 and net zero by 2050 at the latest, including scope 3 emissions.

Bunzl McLaughlin believe that sustainability should form the pivotal foundation of any operating environment. The concept of
setting pioneering standards for sustainability within the industry therefore became a necessity. This resulted in the development of a state-of-the-art distribution facility, strategically positioned in Armagh to service the island of Ireland.

The energy-efficient build was two years in the making and takes the place of a number of smaller warehouses which were previously located in various locations across Northern Ireland. The move therefore represented a major improvement in the environmental footprint of the business.

Prioritising the wellbeing of its workforce, the facility boasts expedient modern conveniences for its staff. These include open plan offices, smart desking facilities, breakout rooms and a spacious canteen offering refreshing downtime. The open design allows for an endless flow of natural lighting, complemented by energy-efficient LED lighting.
