Sligo Park Hotel earns nomination for Sligo Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2023

  • Hotel recognised in Skillnet Ireland Regional Excellence Award category for companies that engage in staff training and upskilling
  • Winner to be announced at Sligo Chamber President’s Gala Dinner on February 10

Sligo Park Hotel is today celebrating being named among the finalists for the Sligo Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2023.

The hotel is one of three companies nominated for the Skillnet Ireland Regional Excellence Award, which was open to any company that engaged in staff training programmes and investment in personal enhancement over the last 24 months.

The winner of the award will be revealed at Sligo Chamber President’s Gala Dinner in Sligo’s Radisson Blu Hotel on February 10.

The nomination, which comes after Sligo Park Hotel won certification from the globally prestigious Great Place to Work Programme (GPTW) in December 2022, further consolidates the hotel’s reputation as one of the premier employers in the North West.

Sligo Park Hotel earned the GPTW honour after receiving a positive result of 65% or higher following a trust index survey of employees, a culture audit of programmes and practices, and a survey of employees across 17 separate categories.

Sligo Park Hotel General Manager and Director Gerard Moore said: “I’m delighted that Sligo Park Hotel has been nominated for the Sligo Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. We value staff training and development as we understand that a stronger and happier staff leads to a better hotel experience for our guests.

“The nomination is recognition not just for the hotel but also our staff. Sligo Park Hotel’s investment in training has paid dividends because of the positive approach they have taken to upskilling so that we can continue to respond successfully to customer needs and changing trends across the hospitality sector. I congratulate them and look forward to the seeing the winner revealed at the President’s Gala Dinner on February 10.”

Sligo Park Hotel HR Manager Mary Halton said: “To be nominated as finalist in the Sligo Chamber of Commerce Business Awards is a massive testament to the staff of the Sligo Park Hotel who continue to strive for excellence on a day-to-day basis. With our ongoing commitment to training and development this nomination will not only help us to stand out among our competitors but will also help us to recruit and retain key talent in an ever-changing environment.”
