New Executive Chef Richard Carmody takes the helm at The Circle Club, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre’s private members’ club
The Circle Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Carmody as Executive Chef at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre’s private members’ club.
Originally from Donegal and an accomplished professional with many years of experience in fine establishments, the culinary world and exceptional hospitality have been passions of Richard Carmody’s for as long as he can remember.
“I started off working summer jobs in hotels and bars in Bundoran when I was a teenager, and it just took off from there,” he recalls. After completing a three-month certificate course in cooking at age 18, Richard went on to attend Killybegs Catering College, which was followed by a move to the Isle of Man where he lived for three years, working for renowned television chef Kevin Woodford.
After spending some time running Woodford’s well-loved restaurant, 22 Church Street, Richard relocated back to Ireland in 1999, landing roles as sous chef in Fitzers, Belgo, and then in the National Yacht Club.
Several successful years as head chef in Dublin eateries such as Brownes on the Green, The Winding Stair and the 5-star Dylan Hotel then saw Carmody branch out, joining the Old Jameson Distillery as Executive Chef of Banqueting and Bistro. In 2016, Richard Carmody joined Press Up Entertainment Group, working as head chef in Sophie’s in The Dean for almost four years. Richard joins The Circle Club from The Mayson, where he was Executive Chef from 2020.
When not busy with his team in The Circle Club kitchens, overseeing the delivery of the polished and elegant menus in Dublin’s only private members theatre club and its new addition, the exclusive private hire Terrace Club, Carmody can be found long-distance cycling, sea swimming in the 40 Foot, or spending time with his four children.
