Swedish golfers ‘pitch in’ to Ireland

Two well-known Swedish professional golfers have been visiting Ireland this week, playing a number of our golf courses and experiencing some of our visitor attractions. They are here as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism NI.

The pro golfers are Elina Hagberg (aka golfbyelina) and Johan Sköld (aka teeparty_johan) and they are joined by popular Swedish actor, comedian and golf enthusiast Klas Eriksson (aka claerence). Johan Sköld also hosts a weekly Swedish golf talk show called the Tee Party. All three are sharing their experiences here with their combined Instagram audience of over 350,000 followers.

The aim of their visit is to remind Swedish golfers that Ireland offers some of the very best golf in the world and offers something for everyone, from beginner to pro, as well as spectacular scenery and fantastic experiences.

Their action-packed itinerary saw them play Warrenpoint Golf Club, Holywood Golf Club and County Louth Golf Club in Baltray. They enjoyed visits to the new Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Banbridge and the Waterman House Cookery School in Belfast. The group also took in a Lagan Legends walking tour of the Titanic Quarter and a whiskey tasting experience at Slane Castle.

Emer MacDiarmada, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Nordic Region, said: We were delighted to invite Elina, Johan and Klas to come and experience our world-class golf, spectacular scenery and wonderful visitor attractions – who, in turn, are now encouraging their Swedish fans and followers to come and experience all of this for themselves. Their visit is a great way to highlight that Ireland offers some of the very best golf in the world and has something for everyone, from beginner to pro – and that now is the time to book that trip.”
