Ashford Castle unveils limited edition Easter Egg – only 100 available to buy

Ashford Castle unveils Easter Egg masterpiece – a rare and luxurious treat

Guests at Ashford Castle are in for an extra special treat this Easter, with each guest welcomed with a newly designed, signature Ashford Castle Easter egg; a unique, handpainted and crafted chocolate egg created by Director of Chocolate and Patisserie, Paula Stakelum.

If you’re not lucky enough to be staying in the Castle over Easter, you still have a chance to get your hands on one of these chocolate masterpieces, as they are available from this evening to buy from Mrs Teas online for €60, but you’ll need to be quick as there are only 100 of these special creations available.

With a theme of ‘A sense of place’, the vibrant and subtle shades of the Easter egg symbolise the Castle’s cherry blossom avenue, where 90 magnificent cherry blossom trees were planted in 2020, in celebration of owner of Ashford Castle, Mr Stanley Tollman’s 90th birthday.

Crafted using Ashford Castle’s bespoke chocolate Couverture ‘Legend’, the hand-painted eggs are packed with Mrs Tollman’s famous chocolate Shards, making this limited-edition chocolate egg (almost) too good to eat.

‘Legend’ chocolate has been created with a 55% cocoa content, for a rich milk chocolate tasting experience. Led by the cocoa, the first taste offers slight fresh milk notes, followed by hints of sweet vanilla and biscuit, enhanced by floral and honey aromas.

The cocoa beans are sustainably sourced in keeping with Ashford Castle’s sustainability ethos which is led by Red Carnation Hotel’s parent company The Travel Corporation (TTC), and its not-for-profit Treadright Foundation. The Treadright Foundation is committed to progressing sustainable tourism, benefitting the people, places and wildlife impacted by tourists.
