Tourism Ireland has teamed up with singer-songwriter Imelda May, in a new two-part TV series called Voices of Ireland, which premiered on Sky Arts and NOW in Great Britain this week.

Working with Red Shoe Productions, Tourism Ireland supported the production of the series, fronted by Imelda May. It is a literary travelogue, about our past and present poets, playwrights and writers, as well as our musicians, singers and actors. Viewers will see Imelda meet well-known personalities like Moya Brennan, Stephen Rea, Sharon Shannon and many more.

Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity, to inspire travellers everywhere to put the island of Ireland on their holiday wish-list. This new series fronted by Imelda May highlights our rich literary scene and cultural heritage, as well as some of the many great reasons to visit, to prospective British visitors.

Filming for the series took place at various literary and cultural hot-spots right around the island of Ireland earlier this year.

Niall Gibbons, Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to work with Imelda May, Sky and Red Shoe Productions, to create this exciting new two-part series called ‘Voices of Ireland’. With many people across Britain set to watch the series on Sky Arts and NOW, it promises to be a great way to shine a spotlight on our rich culture, arts and creativity, as well as our spectacular landscape.”

Voices of Ireland host Imelda May said: “I was really excited to get involved with this project and showcase the breadth of talent Ireland has offered the world. Travelling around this small country and showcasing the profound impact Irish artists have had across the globe has been a wonderful experience.”
