Tourism Ireland hosts virtual Outdoor Activities workshop

Twenty-six (26) tourism companies from around Ireland are taking part in Tourism Ireland’s Outdoor Activities workshop today (1 June).

The workshop is Tourism Ireland’s latest online event, designed to allow the participating tourism companies from Ireland to connect with around 70 tour operators and travel agents, based in Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Nordic countries, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland – via a series of one-to-one, pre-scheduled video appointments.

Research shows that there is a growing demand for outdoor adventure and activity holidays – particularly as a result of the pandemic. Tourism Ireland aims to promote Ireland to these influential tour operators and travel agents, by showcasing some of our superb soft adventure and outdoor activities. The organisation is now building anticipation for future trips to Ireland, to position us well for when the time is right to welcome international visitors once again.

Siobhan McManamy, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Markets, said: “Tourism Ireland is delighted that around 70 tour operators and travel agents from across Great Britain and Mainland Europe are taking the time to join us, and our partners from Ireland, for our virtual Outdoor Activities workshop. The participation of these influential travel professionals is a strong indication that there is really good interest in our soft adventure and outdoor activities – including walking, cycling and kayaking.

“Our message for those travel professionals is that, when the time is right, we will have everything ready to welcome their clients back to our shores. We’ll be assuring them that tourism companies across the island of Ireland have been implementing all the required new health and safety measures – but will still be ready to deliver a fantastic holiday experience for their clients.”
