Seasonality is at the heart of the Summer Menu as GROW HQ Waterford re-opens on June 7th
GROW HQ is located on the Dunmore Road in Waterford City. The magnificent restaurant is surrounded by 4 acres of edible gardens and is home to GIY. Dining this summer will be on the terrace overlooking the vegetable gardens and underneath the HQ stretch tent amongst the summer fruit gardens and orchard.
GROW HQ exemplifies what can happen when a restaurant is run by a great community organisation like GIY who put ‘local food’ at the epi-centre of everything that they do; with just 112 steps from plot to plate dining at GROW HQ will see visitors consume what will probably be their lowest-food-mile meal.
The GROW HQ ethos is simple, GROW, COOK, EAT. Head chef JB Dubois uses the very best of their own homegrown produce to make the tastiest dishes and the menu changes depending on the season and the produce available.
#Brunch
Each day there is a scrumptious brunch menu, a variety of delicious sourdough sandwiches (from €9) along with a selection of quiches (€11.50) and summer salads (€10) and some treats too, with a daily selection of homemade scones, flapjacks, cakes, pastries, and desserts not to mention daily specials and tasty sides. Customers are also encouraged to ‘create a plate’ of their liking from the extensive hot and cold seasonal Mezze menu which includes triple cooked chips, a veggie patch salad, a chilli and honey cheese, black-bean hummus, slow-cooked Waterford lamb, root veg falafels with ferments garlic and cucumber dip to name but a few.
The menu changes frequently depending of the harvests from the GROW HQ garden and inspiration from the kitchen team. The menu and seasonal specials can be viewed on @GROW_HQ on social media. GROW HQ will re-open on June 7th with outdoor dining available in a sunny courtyard and underneath their beautiful stretch tent in the midst of the flourishing food gardens.
It is hoped that as the summer progresses GROW HQ will also host a variety of engagement opportunities for their customers, from outdoor adventures with little GIY’ers to biodiversity walks and talks to fantastic food experience evenings and more.
