Breaking the Silence: Cycle Against Suicide’s Sean Kelly ‘King of the Castle’ Sportif Cycle Addresses Men’s Mental Health Stigma

Considering the stark statistics revealing the persistent issue of male suicide in Ireland, Cycle Against Suicide announces its Sean Kelly ‘King of the Castle’ Sportif Cycle.

This event, scheduled for Sunday, August 4th aims to confront the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and foster a community of support and understanding.

With 3 out of 4 suicides each year being male, Cycle Against Suicide’s King of the Castle Sportif Cycle seeks to provide a platform for individuals to come together, share their stories, and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health.

Neglecting men’s mental health risks the wellbeing of families, workplaces, and communities. When men are discouraged from expressing vulnerability, seeking help, or even acknowledging their mental health struggles, it fosters a culture of silence and isolation.

Cycle Against Suicide is committed to addressing this culture of silence. By encouraging emotional expression and promoting resilience, we tackle stigmas, especially those related to male vulnerability and the higher rates of suicide among men.

By participating in this event, participants are not only advocating for mental wellbeing but also creating a safe space where individuals feel empowered to seek help without fear of judgment.

“Our mission is to dismantle the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and create a society where emotional expression is celebrated as a sign of resilience,” said Caroline Lafferty, CEO of Cycle Against Suicide. “Men, like anyone else, deserve the opportunity to articulate their struggles and seek support. Our Sean Kelly ‘King of the Castle’ Sportif Cycle is a step towards building a community that values and supports mental wellbeing for all.”

The Sean Kelly ‘King of the Castle’ Sportif Cycle is open to individuals of all genders and abilities.

Women’s involvement is particularly crucial, providing invaluable perspective and encouragement to promote integral wellness for all.

Join us on Sunday, August 4th to help create a society that prioritises mental health, support, and understanding.

Together, we can break the silence and build a brighter, more resilient community.
