The Lakeside Hotel wins prestigious award at the Failte Ireland Employer excellence evening
Last Wednesday evening, the 19th of April, members of the hospitality industry in Ireland gathered at the Guinness Store House in Dublin to celebrate the inaugural Employer Excellence Awards. The awards ceremony celebrated businesses who have demonstrated their commitment to making the tourism industry an appealing and rewarding place to work through their participation in Fáilte Ireland’s Employer Excellence programme.
Over 170 tourism businesses took part in the first intake of the programme which launched last September. As part of the programme, Fáilte Ireland engaged internationally recognised employee experience surveyors, Great Place to Work, to invite staff of the participating businesses to complete their Trust Index© Survey. This survey gives the team the chance to highlight the strengths of their workplace, along with areas for further development. The night’s winning businesses were chosen based on this survey feedback. As a result, The Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre were certified as an ‘Outstanding Employer’ which is the highest certification available in the Employer Excellence Programme.
The awards categories were designed to celebrate the best of the best and included Best Employer for the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland’s Ancient East, Dublin and Irelands Hidden Heartlands. Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands encompasses Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford, East Clare, Westmeath, Cavan, North Tipperary, Galway, and Offaly. The Lakeside Hotel was awarded Best Employer for the Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands region.
Speaking after the awards, Eoin Little, General Manager of The Lakeside Hotel said “We are really over the moon about winning such a prestigious award when benchmarked against such worthy hotels in the region. It is a testament to all the hard work that the management and overall team make each day to ensure that we are truly a great place to work. We now have a clear road map of what we need to continue to do to remain so. I am incredibly proud of everyone in the Hotel and we will display this award with pride”.
The hotel has been in operation since the early 1900’s and has cemented its reputation in Ireland as being a preferred destination to get married, celebrate special occasions as well as the perfect place for a break. Their 55 bedrooms offer the ultimate in luxurious furnishings and the recently added “Waterfront Rooms” are finished to a 5-star specification with stunning views from private balconies of Lough Derg and Killaloe.
Refurbishment has just been completed on O’Hara’s bar in the hotel which is another great cause for celebration.
Our ‘Outstanding employer’ Plaque is also displayed with pride in the Hotel who have always promoted total respect and empathy among staff as well as providing a safe, enjoyable place to work. The Hotel is now proudly listed among the very best Hospitality employers in Ireland.
