The search is on to find the country’s tastiest roast or carvery

Ireland’s Favourite Roast competition in association with Knorr is open for entries

We’ve all got our favourite; the local pub that serves the tastiest roast pork, the hotel that never disappoints with its honey-roast ham or the restaurant that always delivers with its mouth-watering rib roast. But have they got what it takes to be the best roast or carvery in the country?

Venues across the country can now pit themselves against the best by entering Ireland’s Favourite Roast competition.  The competition, which is run in association with Knorr, is open to venues who take great pride in serving up nothing but the best to their customers five days each week.

Previous winners of the competition include The Silken Thomas in Kildare, Limerick Strand Hotel and The Elm Tree in Cork, all of whom have an outstanding reputation for their food, service and value.

The carvery is an Irish culinary institution with some of the finest locally sourced meat and veg cooked to perfection. It has become a point of difference for many venues as they look to attract the lucrative lunchtime trade.

Any venue interested in entering their roast simply needs to upload a picture of their dish with a short description. A panel of judges will narrow the entries down to a shortlist of 15 venues who will then be mystery dined. The overall winner, along with the top provincial venues, will be announced in September.

Jim Reeves of Unilever Food Solutions said: “Even as we see Irish tastes and menus continuously evolve, influenced by the latest global food trends, there’s always a place for a good quality carvery.

“At Knorr, we recognise the time and effort it takes to source, cook and serve quality roasts every day and the competition is an opportunity to acknowledge excellence. We are on the lookout for great quality food and service, cleanliness and value for money that keep customers coming back for more”.

Pubs, hotels, restaurants and cafes who serve roast five days per week can enter at UFS.com/irelandsfavouriteroast before the end of July.
