Kilkenny’s “Shenanigan’s Walk” Tour Achieves Prestigious TripAdvisor Award
One of Kilkenny’s longest running and best loved walking tours has been named TripAdvisor’s 2021 Travellers’ Choice ‘Best of the Best’ Things to Do award.
Shenanigans Walks, Guided Walking Tour of Kilkenny a modern twist on traditional tours has taken the top spot as the Best Thing to Do this year for tourists in Ireland.
The guided trip which weaves through Kilkenny’s ‘Medieval Mile’ is not your average walking tour, guides are entertainers who bring a refreshing blend of history, compelling stories, culture, interesting fun facts mixed with magic effects….. and of course some shenanigans”.
Commenting on the award, Owner Nevin Cody said; “We are so proud to have been awarded this from TripAdvisor. We have worked hard over the years to perfect our tourism offering and make it an enjoyable experience for everyone. Every step of the tour reveals incredible landmarks, engaging tales of The Greatest Knight who ever lived, Monks, Merchants, The Normans, Kilkenny’s infamous Witch, and many famous turn of phrase origins. Our use of comedy and magic effects are to elevate the experience and bring this medieval city to life as we read minds and test guests to see if they are a witch all for fun of course. All the stuff we do ties in with the story, and the different characters of the city.”
He added; “The secret to running the best tour in Ireland is listening to what people want. “The number one thing is to build something good, keep it consistent, and listen to feedback people give you. We don’t just stick to a rigid path. If someone is interested in a particular thing, we find ways to incorporate it into the tour along the route. We have something for all the family” with a laugh he says; “ We’re not just a Guided but a MIS-Guided tour ”.
Chairperson of Kilkenny Tourism, Ciaran Conroy said; “As a destination, Kilkenny has always taken pride in its city and the wonderful medieval history that surrounds it. Shenanigans Walks Tours has consistently provided our visitors with a warm welcome and a humorous look at our cities heritage and culture and we are extremely proud of their contribution to Kilkenny’s tourism offering.
He added; “To receive an award like this from such a respected organisation like TripAdvisor is further testament to the hard work and commitment Nevin and his team have shown for tourism in Kilkenny.”
