New Director of Quality Assurance appointed to Good Food Ireland®
Good Food Ireland® the food provenance brand announces the appointment of Paul Carey as Director of Quality Assurance.
Paul brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in the food and tourism hospitality industry for over 30 years both in Ireland and internationally. He is a qualified Chef, HACCP Manager and Graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management.
"Driving and maintaining standards has never been so important. Since Good Food Ireland® was established in 2006 much has changed in Ireland’s food and tourism scene. The sustainable commitment to using Irish ingredients and local produce has become more popular as it now presents a viable and commercial proposition. Since the Covid-19 pandemic we have seen a great increase in the support for local and now with a possible no deal Brexit this support will become even more necessary. However, there is a growing battle for trust amongst consumers, so it is imperative that standards are transparent and truthful”, says Margaret Jeffares, Founder of Good Food Ireland®.
She goes on to say “I am delighted to have Paul head up the Good Food Ireland® Inspection team. This is a new full-time role within the organisation and is a positive indication of how important local food and drink has become for customers and guests”.
“As I travel around Ireland meeting such committed people I am inspired every time by their passion and innovation. They want to give their customers the very best food and drink experience and work closely in partnership with local Irish producers. This is my dream job and I very much look forward to working with the team to continue raising standards and giving recognition to those businesses for what they do so very well” says Paul Carey, Director of Quality Assurance, Good Food Ireland®.
