Trips To Ireland Increased by 2.5% in October 2019
The latest figures from the CSO show there were 956,800 trips to Ireland by overseas residents in October 2019, an increase of 2.5% compared to 12 months earlier.
Trips by residents of Great Britain increased by 4.2% to 336,400 while trips by residents of European Countries other than Great Britain (Other Europe) increased by 8.3% to 355,900. Trips by residents of USA and Canada to Ireland decreased by 8.8% to 208,800 while trips to Ireland from Other Areas increased by 4.3% to 55,700.
Irish residents made 733,000 overseas trips in October 2019, an increase of 2.3% compared to one year earlier. See tables 1 and 2.
The total number of trips (Irish residents’ trips overseas plus trips to Ireland) in October 2019 increased by 2.4% to 1,689,800 when compared to twelve months earlier.
In the ten months to the end of October 2019, the total number of trips to Ireland increased by 2.2% when compared with the same period in 2018. Irish residents' trips overseas during the same period increased by 7.1%.
