Maldron Hotels top Croagh Patrick for Children’s Medical & Research Foundation Crumlin

Maldron Hotels, part of Dalata Hotel Group (“Dalata”), yesterday saw 18 of its General Managers ascend Croagh Patrick in a group expedition to raise funds for Children’s Medical & Research Foundation (“CMRF”), the fundraising body for Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin. Dalata has partnered with CMRF Crumlin for the past four years, involving all of its Maldron and Clayton Hotels in various fundraising initiatives, through the ‘Dalata Digs Deep’ campaign. To date, Dalata has raised over €930,000 and is progressing towards its goal of raising €1 million for CMRF Crumlin. The driving force behind this success is each of the Maldron and Clayton hotel team’s vigour and passion for supporting children’s health.

Overlooking the scenic Clew Bay in Co. Mayo, climbers from various Maldron hotels throughout Ireland, completed the three-mile hike and 750-metre ascent having already raised almost €10,000, thanks to the generous support of a wide variety of sponsors. In total, the ‘Dalata Digs Deep’ campaign has raised over €150,000 for CMRF Crumlin so far in 2019 and the team of General Managers of the Maldron Hotels hope this group expedition will bring Dalata one step closer to achieving the €1 million CMRF Crumlin fundraising target. Neuroblastoma Research Funds raised from the partnership with CMRF have been invested in a substantive piece of research work in Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a cancer of the nervous system that primarily affects children aged 5 and younger and is responsible for approximately 15% of childhood cancer deaths. 1 in 5 children in whom the cancer has spread significantly will not respond to treatment. Of those that do respond, 50% will develop drug resistance, leading, in many cases to death. Employees of Maldron hotels, and the wider Dalata Hotel Group, appreciate that only through research will it be possible to advance treatment options. are committed to this project and understand the great need for funding into research.

Earlier this week, Maldron Hotels claimed top prize as “Irelands Hotel Group” at the 2019 Hotel & Catering Awards. The industry award recognised the quality of hospitality, accommodation and food and consistency of service delivery across the portfolio of Maldron Hotels in Ireland.
