Slieve Donard Resort invests €1.2 million as business grows at Down hotel

A €1.2 million renovation programme at the award-winning Slieve Donard Resort & Spa is now heading for completion as business grows by 10% at the County Down hotel in the past year.

The investment by its owners, Hastings Hotels, has seen the full renovation of its kitchen including all new equipment, as well as the redesign of the hotel’s drawing-room.

The final stage of the programme is due to be completed in September when 16 of the Slieve Donard’s luxury bedrooms will be upgraded.

“It’s been a busy 12 months with a 10 per cent growth in our overall business across the resort,” said Michael Weston, General Manager of the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa.

“We are passionate about food and the renovation programme includes a brand-new kitchen, allowing our chefs to develop our offering in-line with the growing market for food tourism and build on our dedication to local provenance.”

“We are dedicated to ensuring all our guests have the very best experience, so we are delighted to continue to invest in the resort while honouring the building’s legacy as one of Ireland’s most majestic hotels.

The County Down hotel is currently enjoying a very busy summer period with excellent bookings forecasted for the remainder of the year.

“We are confident that our award-winning Slieve Donard Resort and Spa will continue to be a major draw for the local tourism industry. This investment will allow us to facilitate the growing markets of leisure and business visitors while continuing to provide the very best of Northern Ireland’s famous hospitality,” said Michael.
