President Michael D Higgins Meets World Tourism Organization
President Michael D Higgins met with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and his officials at Áras an Uachtaráin ), who were visiting Ireland this week. They discussed the vision and priorities of the UNWTO, which include social, cultural and environmental sustainability.
During their time here, the UNWTO delegation will also visit some of our top attractions, including Titanic Belfast, the Book of Kells and Dublin Castle.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “Tourism Ireland is delighted to welcome the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, and his officials to Ireland. The visit is an excellent opportunity to explore a range of global tourism issues, to reflect on Ireland’s tourism success in recent years and to discuss sustainability as we look to the future.”
