Trips To Ireland Decreased By 0.4% In May 2019
In May 2019, the total number of trips to Ireland by overseas residents decreased by 0.4% to 1,021,700 - an overall decrease of 3,900 compared to twelve months earlier.
Trips by residents of Great Britain decreased by 4.4% to 334,500 while trips by residents of European Countries other than Great Britain (Other Europe) decreased by 4.6% to 367,400. Trips by residents of USA and Canada to Ireland increased by 10.8% to 260,100 while trips to Ireland from Other Areas increased by 7.0% to 59,700.
The total number of overseas trips made by Irish residents during May 2019 increased by 7.7% to 765,900.
The total number of trips (Irish residents’ trips overseas plus trips to Ireland) in May 2019 increased by 2.9% to 1,787,600 when compared to twelve months earlier.
In the five months to the end of May 2019, the total number of trips to Ireland increased by 3.7% when compared with the same period in 2018. Irish residents' trips overseas during the same period increased by 9.1%.
