Targeting French Group Tour Business For The Island Of Ireland
Ireland was promoted to top French group travel operators in Paris at a B2B tourism event, Irlande à Paris.
The workshop and networking event, organised by Tourism Ireland, involved some 60 leading French group travel operators meeting, and doing business with, tourism companies from Ireland. It provided an excellent platform for the participating companies – including hotels, visitor attractions and destination management companies, as well as air and sea carriers – to secure a greater share of group tour business from France.

Monica MacLaverty, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Southern Europe, said: “We are delighted that so many key decision-makers from the group travel sector in France took the time to meet with our tourism partners from the island of Ireland, to hear about our fantastic tourism offering and the many opportunities for group travel to Ireland.” France is one of the top four markets for tourism to the island of Ireland and 2018 was another record-breaking year for French visitor numbers to Ireland. Monica MacLaverty continued: “2018 was the best year ever for tourism from France to Ireland, when we welcomed about 564,800 French arrivals. For 2019, we are rolling out an extensive programme of promotional activity in France to build on that success and, in particular, to encourage more French holidaymakers to explore our regions and less-visited attractions, during the shoulder and off-season months.”
