€34 Million Investment And Creation Of 100 Jobs Brings New Life Into Cork City Centre
Dalata Hotel Group plc ("Dalata" or "the Company"), Ireland’s largest Hotel operator and owner of the Clayton and Maldron Hotel brands, will today mark the official opening of the Maldron Hotel South Mall in Cork City Centre. It has been an active six-month period at the Hotel and staff are looking forward to what looks like a very busy summer. Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Coveney, TD will officially open the hotel this afternoon alongside General Manager Robert McCarthy and Chairman of Dalata Hotel Group plc, John Hennessy.
Opened in December 2018, the Hotel is situated in the heart of Cork city’s business and shopping district. Once the old fire brigade offices and School of Anatomy for UCC. Dalata invested €34 million in the development of the new hotel which has brought a new lease of life to the South Mall and Parnell Place. Over 100 new jobs have been created at Maldron Hotel South Mall. Many of these new employees will participate in Dalata’s exciting development programmes which will enhance their careers. The four-star hotel boasts 163 bedrooms, a bar, two restaurants and five state of the art meeting rooms to cater for both leisure and business guests. The extensive ground floor is home to Red Bean Roastery, a unique offering from Dalata’s own coffee brand and prepared by expert baristas. The hotel is another excellent addition to Dalata’s portfolio in Cork which also includes; Maldron Hotel Shandon, Clayton Hotel Silver Springs and Clayton Hotel Cork City.
