FBD Hotels & Resorts announce appointments
Leading Irish hotel and property group FBD Hotels & Resorts has announced two new appointments to its management and operations team as the company targets continued growth.
Ger Alley has been appointed General Manager of The Heritage Hotel & Spa, acquired by the group in January 2019. Andrew Kavanagh, formerly Sales and Marketing Director at Castleknock Hotel, has been appointed Group Sales and Marketing Manager, with responsibility for overseeing the function for the entire FBD Hotel & Resorts portfolio.
These new appointments follow a strong financial performance by the company last year, and the recent acquisition of its fifth hotel, The Heritage Hotel & Spa, Killenard, Co Laois. FBD Hotels & Resorts recorded revenues of €53.6m in 2017. The group’s Irish hotels accounted for €15.8m of revenues with the hotels in Spain generating €37.8m. 2018 has seen further growth for the group.
Ger Alley joins FBD Hotels & Resorts from The K Club in Co Kildare, where he was Food and Beverage Director. Ger brings a wealth of hospitality and managerial experience to the post, having previously held roles in the Newpark Hotel, Co Kilkenny; Trim Castle, Co Meath, The Hodson Bay, Co Athlone; and Kilashee House Hotel in Co Kildare.
Andrew Kavanagh has been appointed to Group Sales and Marketing Manager at FBD Hotels & Resorts. Previously, Andrew held the role of Sales and Marketing Director at the company’s Dublin property, Castleknock Hotel, for almost eleven years.
Andrew was a core part of the team that led Castleknock Hotel to win AA Irish Hotel of the Year 2013/2014, and the ‘Best Place to Stay in Leinster’ at the Gold Medal Awards 2018. He was also part of the team that oversaw the expansion of the hotel with 52 new bedrooms and a state-of-the-art spa, which opened in 2018.
Commenting on the appointments, Managing Director FBD Hotels & Resorts, David Kelly, said:
“We are delighted to appoint both Ger and Andrew to the FBD Hotels & Resorts Group management and operations team. Their appointments demonstrate our commitment to investing in the best talent and expertise in the hospitality sector, which in turn supports the continued growth of our business and delivery of our long-term strategic objectives. Both Ger and Andrew bring exceptional knowledge and skills in their respective fields, and I look forward to working closely with them to better serve our valued customers and guests.”
