In its ninth edition, The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands recently released its 2019 results, during the international trade fair, ProWein. Partnered with global wine market research company Wine Intelligence and alongside Drinks International, the ranking features the top 50 wine producers from all over the world.

Santa Rita, one of Chile’s mostimportant wineries, was the Chilean brand that moved up the most since last year, advancing 19 spots and ranking top 30 globally. Drinks International highlighted Santa Rita’s “geographic reach and muscle across different market tiers, achieving quality and consistency in each of them”. It also commented on the broad portfolio, comprising brands as 120, Medalla Real, Pehuén, Triple C and Casa Real.

The ranking follows three basic criteria: the wine is of consistent good quality, based on the price band it occupies; the wine reflects its region, country of origin or chosen grape variety and it is professionally marketed and expertly packaged to appeal to its target consumers. The voters are Drinks International Academy of drinks professionals, including retail buyers, retailers, importers, wholesalers, bar managers, bartenders, masters of wine, wine writers, journalists and wine educators.
