Tourism event in House of Lords kicks off programme of St Patrick’s 2019 celebrations
Tourism Ireland co-sponsored a special reception in the House of Lords in London on Tuesday, 12 March, to kick off an extensive programme of St. Patrick's celebrations around the world. The event, celebrating British-Irish relations, was attended by Northern Ireland Secretary of State Karen Bradley, members of the House of Lords and House of Commons, as well as leaders of the Irish community living in London, influential travel trade, business tourism and media contacts.
The marks the start of a packed programme of promotional activity for Tourism Ireland around the world this week. Tourism Ireland’s St Patrick’s 2019 programme will span Great Britain, Mainland Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, as well as emerging tourism markets like China and the Middle East. Over the coming days, hundreds of iconic landmarks and sites around the world will be illuminated in green – as part of Tourism Ireland’s 2019 Global Greening initiative to celebrate the island of Ireland and St Patrick. From Rome to Rio and from London to Las Vegas, a host of buildings and sites around the world will be turning a shade of green to celebrate our national day.
