In September 2018, the total number of trips to Ireland by overseas residents increased by 2.3% to 968,200 - an overall increase of 21,600 compared to twelve months earlier.

Trips by residents of Great Britain decreased by 9.1% to 297,600 while trips by residents of European Countries other than Great Britain (Other Europe) increased by 6.9% to 343,500. Trips by residents of USA and Canada to Ireland increased by 11.0% to 261,400 while trips to Ireland from Other Areas increased by 5.3% to 65,700.

The total number of overseas trips made by Irish residents during September 2018 increased by 11.5% to 795,100. See tables 1 and 2.

The total number of trips (Irish residents’ trips overseas plus trips to Ireland) in September 2018 increased by 6.3% to 1,763,400 when compared to twelve months earlier.

In the nine months to the end of September 2018, the total number of trips to Ireland increased by 7.1% when compared with the same period in 2017. Irish residents' trips overseas during the same period increased by 3.8%.
