Dublin Tourism Industry Networks for Success

A wide range of Dublin tourism businesses attended a highly successful Networking event in the Royal College of Physicians this week, where they were provided with updates on the latest Dublin tourism initiatives by Paul Kelly, Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland and heard how to deliver business success from keynote speaker, networking expert Kingsley Aikins.

Outlining the National Tourism Development Authority’s priorities to build on Dublin’s tourism success, Paul Kelly, Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland said:

“As Dublin is the key gateway to Ireland, it is vital that the city’s tourism sector is supported to ensure that we continue to build a world class industry. As part of the supports provided by Fáilte Ireland, we have recently announced a focused capital grants scheme to develop world-class visitor attractions in the Dublin Region with €1m in funding available for this initiative, ‘Dublin's Surprising Stories 2018’. In addition, we have also developed a new tagline for the Dublin brand, ‘Dublin Surprising By Nature’ which we are continuing to roll out to industry and the public and we are supporting a dedicated ’shoulder season’ marketing campaign with a number of online travel portals and airlines. In addition, we are organising and supporting a number of Get Brexit Ready related events and workshops.”

As part of the event, Kingsley Aikins, founder and CEO of the Networking Institute delivered a highly interactive presentation where he outlined 10 key steps for networking business success:

“As part of networking success, I have outlined 10 steps that can have a positive influence on both professional and personal development. Networking is about building relationships and developing contacts for success. If people look critically at their networks, they will see that many of those within their circle would be similar to themselves and share many of the same views, outlooks and opinions. We need to step outside these ‘comfort zones’ and develop relationships with others who can challenge our thinking. While technology has brought great advantages, we should think do I need to send that email or would it better to pick up a phone or walk down to a colleague’s desk and talk face to face instead. Maintain the human touch and success will follow.”

The 10 Steps outlined by Kingsley Aikins are:
