Trips To Ireland Increased By 12.5% In July 2018


In July 2018, the total number of trips to Ireland by overseas residents increased by 12.5% to 1,160,500 - an overall increase of 129,000 compared to twelve months earlier.

Trips by residents of Great Britain increased by 3.4% to 353,300 while trips by residents of European Countries other than Great Britain (Other Europe) increased by 12.5% to 422,800. Trips by residents of USA and Canada to Ireland increased by 24.5% to 299,300 while trips to Ireland from Other Areas increased by 16.1% to 85,200.

The total number of overseas trips made by Irish residents during July 2018 decreased by 2.2% to 905,400.

The total number of trips (Irish residents’ trips overseas plus trips to Ireland) in July 2018 increased by 5.6% to 2,065,900 when compared to twelve months earlier.

In the seven months to the end of July 2018, the total number of trips to Ireland increased by 7.8% when compared with the same period in 2017. Irish residents' trips overseas during the same period increased by 3.0%.
